    Abstract
    The present research work entitled: The reading of micro-stories to improve reading comprehension in first grade students of the I.E. "Manuel Gonzales Prada" Conila Cohechán - 2023, has been developed from a problem observed in the students, where a great deficiency in reading comprehension could be observed, the students do not tend to read correctly, they do not pronounce the words well, they cannot find the main and secondary ideas within a text. The objective of the research was to demonstrate the influence of reading micro-stories in the improvement of reading comprehension in first grade students of the I.E. "Manuel Gonzales Prada" Conila Cohechán - 2023. The research has a quantitative approach and a pre-experimental test/post-test design with a single group. The sample consisted of 15 students enrolled in the first grade of secondary education, the instrument used was an objective test, graded by means of an observation sheet based on achievement levels, validated by experts. In the results of the pre-test, 40% were at the initial level; 20% at the process level; 26,67% at the achieved level and 13,33% at the outstanding level, while in the exit test, 31.25% were at the achieved level and 68.75% at the outstanding level. It is concluded that the application of micro-story reading has been beneficial and has significantly reinforced reading comprehension.
